I'm a Graduate Student at Wichita State Unversity, pursuing a Masters degree in Earth, Environmental, and Physical Science. I'm just beginning the process of determining what direction I want my graduate research to go. I'm most interested in the Geohydrology field. I believe my B.S. in Soil & Environmental Science as well as a masters in geology will give me the tools to become a successful Geohydrologist. If anyone has any thoughtful ideas as to possible research opportunities let me know!!
Really? I can't stand snow. But, that may have something to do with growing up in SE Texas where we didn't have any and then moving to Idaho where there was TONS and wouldn't melt until mid-April. During the short time I lived there, I literally witnessed it so in every single month of the year.
Can you narrow down you emphasis in water studies a bit? Are you interested in a particular aspect of water-related studies? With your background in soil studies, I know there are plenty of opportunities here in KS with farmers, for example, where to fertilize, where to have cows, grow certain plants, etc. All issues that require a knowledge of groundwater flow. These studies can often be beneficial to the quality of water in the surrounding area and to the farmers themselves. For example, a study that enables a corn farmer to also graze cattle.
I guess snow is somewhat related to groundwater.
ReplyDeleteHow long does it take groundwater to filter down to the highest saturated zone (aquifer) in Wichita area?
